And more tests.......

Happy change-the-clocks day! We are both feeling well rested with that extra hour, but Casey is looking ahead at another week of tests. Tomorrow is the mugascan, which should not be too taxing. But Tuesday is the PT (pet) scan, and he is on a restricted diet and exercise plan in preparation. For 48 hours before (meaning now), he cannot exercise at all. As in, not even mow the lawn. This is not a problem, as he has little energy for exercise anyway. But, for 24 hours prior to Tues, he is on this high-protein/low-calorie diet that includes basically meat and green vegetables. No pasta, rice, potatoes, bread, sugar, sugar-free product, milk or milk-product, onions, tomatoes, carrots, corn, fruit, juice, coffee, alcohol, caffeine, candy, mints, gum, or cough drops. Basically everything is off limits! This is not so much a problem since his appetite is poor, but he is living on cough drops lately. Also, he is encouraged to drink water (which he already likes to do), but he is not allowed to drink through a straw. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why drinking water through a straw will affect his scan.

So they will inject radioactive sugars into his body, and run him through the scanner. They say all radioactivity will be gone from his body soon after the test. This test shows where the cancer hotspots are in his body, if there are any others we don't already know about.

We both had very nice weekends. Casey and Cathy saw Wicked, and loved it. I attended a friend's bridal shower, and then we introduced Cathy to my aunt and uncle at a family dinner. Casey watched football all day, while my mother and I relaxed during a mani pedi. Casey cannot understand why I like bright colors on my toes. I am commuting back to work in the morning so Casey can watch DH and Brothers and Sisters with me (his FAVORITES- haha). Hey, I did watch football for a few hours.

We are both in good spirits about the week ahead. Thursday's appointment (Dr. Moskowitz) should indicate with certainty Casey's stage, treatment plan, and when chemo will start. Friday is a big day- Casey is seeing Dr. Gilbert, the guy who will run tests, freeze his sperm and store it for a couple thousand dollars. We obviously know it is a small price to preserve his fertility, but it feels like a big expense right now.
